May Practice 2025

“Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.” – Zen Proverb

Intentional awareness quiets our mind’s default tendency to ruminate and stress,  and activates the prefrontal cortex, which governs presence, choice, and self-regulation. Repeatedly practicing mindful attention literally rewires the brain, helping us move from reactivity to responsiveness, from insight to integration. This month’s practice allows us to slow down and tune in, so we don’t just understand healing, we live it.
